Children's Christmas Party

IT STARTED in 1993 with sixteen kids who were living with HIV/AIDS...kids who were looking at virtually no Christmas celebration, including gifts. So we made a plan:

1) to have a great Party;

2) to give  "Santa gifts" to ALL children who attend the Party;

3) to provide the parents with the means to choose a complete Christmas (new clothing, shoes, toys) for their home celebration, allowing these families to maintain their own tradition of Christmas.

Well, it worked!
And then it GREW! [at the 2011 Party, you helped us serve 597 children!]

And now, as we prepare for the TWENTIETH Christmas Party (12/15/2012), there are again AT LEAST 500 children waiting!

Kids in all sorts of conditions and problems...kids in working families which remain profoundly poor...kids who do not "qualify" for any other program...kids from "immigrant" families...kids from various clinics...kids everywhere in East Texas who don't have any prospects for Santa arriving...or for their parents to maintain any personal dignity in finding help.

So it's been an amazing process...churches, schools, businesses, civic groups, and LOTS of individuals from ALL OVER the country...and it's just become this glorious, breathtaking event each year. And if you would like to see pictures of the Party, simply click here!

THE BIRTHDAY MINISTRY!

 Having witnessed the wondrous effects of the Annual Christmas Party on hundreds and hundreds of kids, we decided to try to maintain contact throughout the year with as many of the children as possible, to provide presents and "goodies" which they might not otherwise receive....
For many of these children, special birthday celebrations are something beyond the means of their parents...parents who work hard every day (often seven days a week) just to put food on the table. We wish to continue to remind as many kids as possible that they have a special day each year, a day when their unique life is acknowledged and celebrated...a day when they can celebrate with their family.
